Herman Carrick Obituary
February 15, 2025
KINGSPORT - Herman E. Carrick, Sr., 88 of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025. Herman was born in Tracy City, TN to the late Emmett and Ruby Turner Carrick. As a lifelong worker, Herman joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17. Following his service, he attended the Nashville Diesel Mechanic School and worked as an area supervisor with Vulcan Materials before purchasing his own business, B & W Dry Cleaners. Herman loved hunting, fishing, horseback riding and spending time outdoors. He was President of Cherokee Rod and Gun Club, a member of Jericho Shriners and Optimist Club and often spent time flying whenever he could.
Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Carrick; sister, Mary Shields; and brother, Gene Carrick.
Survivors include his children, Herman Carrick, Jr. (Janet), Gene Carrick (Karen), Ginger Curlee (Bill); grandchildren, Heather "Nicki" Salyer (David), Herman Lee Carrick, Benjamin Carrick (Ashley), Elizabeth Wilcox (Tim), Anna Grace Carrick, Abby Carrick, Mitch Curlee and Will Curlee; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Dottie Edmonds, Edith Nunley (Jody), Nelda Steifel; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 12:00 – 2:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Greg Burton officiating.
Committal services will follow at the funeral home with Military Honors by The American Legion Posts 3/265.
