Ilse Maria Reiden September 4, 2024
Ilse Maria Reiden passed away the morning of Thursday, September 4, 2024, after receiving loving devotion and care from her nephew, Kevin J. McConnell. She was born in Munich, Germany, and enjoyed a long, successful career as an administrative assistant to the Bavarian ministry of environment. Upon her retirement in 2004, she relocated to Scott County, VA, to be near her sister, Pia McConnell, and her extended family.
Ilse was a passionate philanthropist who generously donated her time and resources helping animals. Ilse also actively participated and volunteered at her beloved church, Saint Bernard's.
Preceding Ilse in death are her parents, Albert and Anna Rieden; niece, Margaret McConnell Coleman and husband, Geoffrey; nephews, Gregory McConnell; and brother-in-law, Frank D. McConnell.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Pia Rieden McConnell; nephews, Kevin McConnell (Stephanie), Stephen McConnell; great nieces, Olivia Morgan (Robert), their children: Ryder, Reagan, Riley Morgan, and Valerie Palmer (Brady), and their son, Coleman Palmer; and special friends, Harold and Shelly Walker.
A visitation will be held from 2-3p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the St. Bernard's Church, Gate City, VA. A funeral mass will follow at 3:00p.m., with Father Tim Drake officiating.

Pia, My sympathy in Ilse's death, and, I just learned that Frank died in 2017. We lost Dear Mom, Kitty, age 97, in Knoxville, 21 April. Many fond memories of your family and especially your CHRiST-like spirit. Psalm 116:15; 1 These 4:13-18. Sola DEO Gloria, Allen & Lois Quillen
