GATE CITY, VA - Jackie Porter, age 85 of Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2025 after a period of declining health. Jackie was born on November 25, 1939 to the late Bordie Porter and Eulalee Agee Porter. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Jackie was a humble person who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a very honest man who enjoyed tinkering. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Emory Porter and sister, Wilma Shelton.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Porter; daughter, Nancy Lane; granddog, "P.J."; sister, Lois Kyllonen; brothers, Lloyd Porter and Bill Porter (Irene); and special sister-in-law, Jean Flanary.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA with Rev. Bill Porter officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
Phil Quillen, Randy Quillen, Craig Bright, Bobby Flanary and David Bowman will serve as pallbearers. Roger Baker is an honorary pallbearer.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at NOVA Health & Rehab.

Nancy and Betty, so sorry to hear about Jack. We loved Jack and were so blessed to be able to work daily with him , he was a good friend to all who knew him. Sorry we were not able to attend we are both sick. You both are in our thoughts and prayers.
