DUFFIELD, VA – Jake Benjamin Stone, Jr., 87, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024. He was born on September 11, 1936 in Duffield, VA to the late Jake Benjamin Stone, Sr. and Ethel Collier Stone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Mitchell; sons-in-law, Robert (Butch) Grills and James Mitchell; infant grandchildren, Henry and Allie Harrison; brothers, Sonny Stone, Gary Stone and infant brother Robert Stone; sisters, Thelma Peterson, Ruth Shepard and Glenda Lane.
Jake is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Charlene Fritz Stone; daughters, Patricia (David) Jessee, Kathy Grills, Gina (Mark) Dunn; grandchildren, Elizabeth Powers, Brandon ( Alicia) Jessee, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Harrison, Michelle (Alex) Thompson, Rachel Stone, Matthew Stone, Andrew Stone, Tyler (Brittany) Stone; great grandchildren, Lauren (Gerald) Seaberg, Abbigail Thompson, Ethan Jessee, Hannah Stone, Jacob Thompson, Emmaleigh Stone, Samuel Thompson, Maggie Harrison, Levi Harrison; brother, Orville (Mary) Stone; sisters, Helen Hornbeck and Betty Davis; special nephew, Chris Davis; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Family will receive friends Friday, March 8, 2024 from 5 – 7 PM at Colonial Funeral Home. The graveside service will be private with Pastor Robert "Bo" Stewart officiating. Pallbearers will be Brandon Jessee, Matt Stone, Andy Stone, Tyler Stone, Jeremiah Harrison, Alex Thompson, Ethan Jessee and Jacob Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are David Jessee and Mark Dunn.
