James Barger Obituary

HILTONS, VA - James Darrell Barger, 67, of Hiltons, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023 at his home.

Darrell was an employee of Eastman Chemical Company for 24 years, an avid sportsman, and could usually be found at the Carter Fold on Saturday nights. He loved being around his family most of all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beatrice Barger and his brother-in-law, Terry Ketron.

Darrell is survived by his siblings, Randall Barger (Kaye), Stanley Barger (Lisa), Wendell Barger (Pam), and Anita Ketron; his children, Dianna Barger Smith (Timothy), Brian Barger (Jennifer), and Rachel Zollinger (Kevin); five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA and anytime at the residence of his sister, Anita Ketron.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 20, 2023 at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery, East Carters Valley Rd, Gate City, VA. with his nephew, Pastor Jeremy Ketron officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:50 am at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.
