James Cromer Obituary

James Millard Cromer

November 10, 2024

KINGSPORT - James Millard Cromer 87, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Hermitage Healthcare in Elizabethton with his family by his side. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and later went on to receive his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Georgia Tech Institute of Technology. James was employed by the TVA and Duke Power as a civil engineer. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and was very active in sports with his children and others in the community. James was a past president of the AAU swim club as well as being a softball coach. He was responsible for the development of a sports complex in Red Bank, Tennessee. James especially enjoyed spending time with his dogs. He was a loving father and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Hattie Nan Cromer; parents, Millard and Nellie Cromer.

Survivors include his daughters, Jill Thomasson and husband Bert; Jan Owens, and Joy Keith and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Bethany Thomasson, Josiah Thomasson (Kristen), Micah Thomasson (Abby), Spencer Galloway, Summer Turner (Kyle), Sierra Gossett (Josh), Gabriel Keith, Gloria Keith, and Stephen Keith; along with a host of friends and extended family.

A graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
