James (Jim) Arthur Gee

KINGSPORT - James (Jim) Arthur Gee, 82, of Kingsport passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, at The Blake at Kingsport.

In his younger years, Jim served in the National Guard, attended both East Tennessee State University and University of Tennessee, and was employed with Eastman. Since Jim loved to converse with people, he found the perfect job as a sales consultant working for Pfizer, Warner Lambert, Becton Dickinson company with a combined service of about 40 years. His employment took him from Tennessee to Arkansas and eventually Florida.

Jim pursued and enjoyed a variety of interests. He was active in mission work through the First United Methodist Church of St. Petersburg, Florida. He participated in mission trips to Mexico and Cuba.

He also had interests in drawing, hiking, woodworking, reading, listening to jazz music, tasting good food and wine, scuba diving, and sailing.

Jim was the captain of his sailing ship – Small World. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. He often shared stories of sailing adventures and times spent exploring the southern coastal waters of Florida and surrounding areas.

Jim particularly loved his Irish Setters – Shane, Thyme, and Two Thyme! Two Thyme was his faithful companion. Jim and Two Thyme were traveling buddies – their journeys and life adventures took them from the sunny coast of Florida to their mountain home in Tennessee, where Jim had spent the majority of his growing-up years.

Jim is proceeded in death by, Robert E. Gee (father), Florence E. (Suttenfield) Gee (mother), and "Bobby" Gee (older Brother).

He is survived by the following family: Gary Gee (younger brother), Mary Gee (sister), Michele Gossett (daughter) and Stephen Gossett (son-in-law), Rachel and Andy Large (granddaughter and husband), Holly and Tony Baker (granddaughter and husband), Hannah Gossett (granddaughter), Travis Gossett (grandson), and four great- grandchildren, Brody Baker, Ella Large, Ivy Baker, and Noah Large.

The family of Jim Gee wishes to express their love and thankfulness for the many prayers of friends and neighbors during his illness. We would also like to thank the supportive care and dedication to his needs as they have been met by The Blake of Kingsport, Gentiva Hospice, and Oak Hill Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.

A Celebration of James' life will begin at 1:00 pm with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.

A Private Graveside Service will immediately follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Section A.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Jim's memory to the Animal Shelter of Greater Kingsport or Gentiva Hospice.

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I worked with him for a number of years at BD and stayed in touch through the years. Met him often for dinner when in St Pete area. He was a good man and a good friend. Condolences to the family...
