James "Jim" D. Lewis

March 20, 2025

KINGSPORT - James "Jim" D. Lewis, age 82 of Kingsport passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Jim was born in Carter County, TN to Paul and Beulah Lewis on September 12, 1942. Jim served as a Military Policeman in the Army with honor at Oxford and Ole Miss.

Jim was an Ordained Southern Baptist Minister, Sunday school teacher, banker, and business owner. He took every opportunity to share Jesus with everyone he encountered.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Shelton, John, Paul, Pat, and Randy Lewis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Susan Meade-Lewis; daughters Jennifer Rizzo, Brooke Price, and Heather Garland; grandsons Will Darnell and Tyson Garland; sisters Rose Smith and Nadine Million; brother Wayne Lewis; as well as several nieces and nephews

A visitation of family and friends will be held from 2 pm to 3 pm on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home – Kingsport with funeral services to follow. A military graveside will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 2 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 1:50 pm.
