Janet D. Elliott, 90 years young, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2023. She was an only child to Clyde and Vergie Skeen Davidson. Janet grew up in Wise, Virginia, where she met the love of her life, Leland Byron Elliott, and they made their home in Kingsport, TN. They were members of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Janet was very involved in all aspects of church life, including teaching school and Bible studies, and very active with the Homebound Ministry and the Senior Adults Ministries. She had a servant heart and was always ready to help anyone in need. Her family, friends, neighbors, and community were her career. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed many hobbies. Janet cooked for anyone in need throughout her church and community, loved to read, enjoyed camping adventures, dancing, and playing cards. She was the ultimate host and loved to entertain. Janet and Bryon shared a love for music and enjoyed attending concerts and festivals throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of 62 years, Bryon Elliott.
Janet and Byron were blessed with four children, Cynthia Barnes (Bill) of Bonita Springs, FL, William Byron Elliott (Nancy) of Ellijay, GA, Karen E. Hall (Richard) of Knoxville, TN, and David Elliott of TN.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the wonderful nurses and caretakers of Dominion Senior Living at Johnson City, where Janet made her home for 4 years. The family also appreciates all the care and love she received from the staff at Storypoint Senior Living, Knoxville, TN, where she had resided for her last 6 months.
She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends, but we rejoice knowing she is with her Savior and her family and friends that have gone before her.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in the chapel at Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN. The family will receive friends following the service.
