KINGSPORT - Ssgt. Jason Brett Hopkins USAF (retired) age 42, of Kingsport, TN entered peacefully into his eternal home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
Jason was born October 30, 1981, to Edna Pifer and Robin Hopkins.
He was a graduate of Gate City High School and attended MECC and UVA at Wise prior to joining the United States Air Force.
Jason was a Staff Sergeant in air-refueling, stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita, KS. He was an exemplary and selfless airman, serving in multiple tours of duty - including Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan. Jason was a key player in ensuring that over 1,000 Afghan children received readied backpacks for academic purposes.
His warmth, humor, and compassionate nature will be forever missed.
Jason was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church where he was baptized when he was thirteen years old.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, William and Helen McDavid, and Gerald and Virginia Hopkins.
Jason is survived by his loving mother and special dad, Edna and Tony Pifer; his son, Talon Brett Hopkins; special aunt and uncle, Rocky and Kathy Wilcox; cousins Stacie Wilcox and Justin Wilcox, (who were like siblings to Jason); his loving McDavid Family and the Pifer- Cole family; father Robin Hopkins (Barbara); half-brother, Johnathan Hopkins; cousin, Justin Hopkins; and his "furever" support companion dog, Korvo.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 3, 2023, 4:00-5:45 pm in the funeral home chapel.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 6:00 pm with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Randy Cole will deliver the eulogy and music will be provided by the Potters.
Military Graveside honors accorded by The American Legion Hammond Posts 3/265 will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, December 4, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Pallbearers will include his uncles, Clayton McDavid and Randy McDavid; cousins, Justin Wilcox, Tanner McDavid, Justin Hopkins, Jonathan Hopkins, and Derek Comer.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Rocky Wilcox, Randy Cole, Coach Nick Colobro, and Joe McMurray.

I met Jason when he first graduated High School...He came into the shop where I worked in Weber City and was interested in Car Audio Equipment...Jason had a passion about the car stereo industry.. and i was really blessed to get to know him...He will surely be missed....we were friends for many years...My deepest sympathy for all his family and friends...
