Jay Dallas Greene

KINGSPORT - Jay Dallas Greene 92, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born in Kingsport to the late Charles and Ruth Greene. Jay served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Jay received a Master's degree from both East Tennessee State University and Florida State University. He was a professor at several colleges. Jay enjoyed writing songs, several of which were recorded by Southern Gospel Groups. He was a Christian and supported various Christian Charities. Jay was a devoted friend and family man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Don, and Gary Greene; sister, Anna Ruth Colvin.

Survivors include his lifelong friend, Mary Hall; god-daughters, Glenda Starnes and husband Thomas, Alana Higgins and husband Greg; god-son, Zachary Starnes and wife Logan; grandchildren, Remington and Rosalin Starnes; along with several nieces and nephews.

A military graveside service will be conducted at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with honors conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 at 301 Louis St #301 Kingsport, Tn 37660.
