ROGERSVILLE - Jean Henderson Riley, age 89, of Rogersville, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at her residence after a period of declining health. She attended Shepard's Chapel Baptist Church for many years. Jean was employed 22 years with Dr. Walter L. Goforth and was appointed and elected as Hawkins County Circuit Court Clerk from 1986-1994. Following retirement, she was employed by East Tennessee Human Resource Agency as a misdemeanor probation officer. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Meredith Riley, parents Dr. Edward and Bertha Fox Henderson, grandson Greyson Gibson, sister Frances Leonard, and brother Jimmy Henderson.
Survivors include her daughters, Marian Sandidge (Mark) of Kingsport, Elizabeth "Obbie" Godsey (David Myers) of Rogersville, son James D. "Butch" Arnott (Debbie) of Rogersville, grandchildren, LaDawn Manis, Doug Arnott, LeShey Baker (Keith), Garrison Gibson (Elly), Michael Godsey (Julie), 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the entire staff of Amedisys Hospice.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023, in the Broome Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023 in the chapel with Rev. Johnny Carr officiating.
Burial will follow in McKinney Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

She was a very precious lady a friend and help me find my path in life, I was blessed to have the privilege of knowing her she give me a break when life wouldn't give me one it was very compassionate Rest High on that mountain, my condolences to the family
