Jewell Bernice Shumate September 21, 2024
KINGSPORT - Jewell Bernice Shumate 93, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Saturday. September 21, 2024. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shumate; son, Bill Shumate; grandson, Daniel Self; granddaughter, Shanna Self; son-in-law, Chad Self; parents, William and Mary Cheatham; two brothers; six sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Patti Self; grandson, Bryan Self; great-granddaughter, Kenzie Self; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12pm to 1pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Larry Browder officiating.
A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Amedysis Hospice especially DeShae for their loving care.
