KINGSPORT - Jimmy W. Manis, 71, of Kingsport, gained his Heavenly wings on Friday, April 19, 2024. He served two years in Korea, earning a National Defense Service Medal. His detail was in radio operations for the U.S. Army. He retired from Air Products after 27 years. He was a loving family man, especially to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Manis; wife of 38 years, Deborah Sue Manis; granddaughter, Tylisha Phillips; brothers, Paul and Arthur "Buck" Hodges, and Richard Manis; sisters, Shirley Burchard and Christine Brooks; and nephew, Jody Snapp.
He is survived by his son, Jamie Manis and fiancé Amy Lawson; daughter, Amy Manis; grandchildren, Austin Leftwich, Tyla Phillips (Jayden Watterson), Caysee Phillips, and Josh Manis (Jesse); step-grandchildren, Hunter, Logan, and Dana Lawson; step-great-grandchildren, Maddie and Kam Lawson, and Ivy Bloomer; siblings, Lucille Snapp (Howard) and Kenneth "Hootie" Manis (Jane); several nieces and nephews; and special companion, Linda Maggard.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Bro. Marvin Egan officiating.
Graveside services will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Military Honors by American Legion Posts #3/265. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Lawson, Logan Lawson, Josh Manis, Jayden Watterson, Jeff Jones, and Marty Manis.
