JONESBOROUGH - Joe E. Dean, Sr., 85 of Jonesborough, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Joe had retired from Burlington Industries and was a life-long farmer. He was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church. Joe's true love was helping others.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Dean; son, Joe E. Dean, Jr. and wife Patricia; daughter, Rita Kay Bernard; grandchildren, Dustin Bernard and wife Ruby and Dillon Bernard and wife Marissa; sisters, Shirley Lilley and Catherine Flinchum and husband Lloyd; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeff Strong and Jeff Ferguson officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Logans Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sullivan Baptist Church Building Fund, 4152 Maplewood St., Kingsport, TN 37660.
