KINGSPORT - JoEllen Olinger 83, of Kingsport went be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 23, 2024. She was born in Lee County, VA to the late James E. and Maude Coomer Olinger. JoEllen was employed at the Kingsport Press for over 25 years before her retirement. She was an avid reader and loved all Christian books. JoEllen was a caregiver to many whether it was through preparing meals or simply a phone call. She was a loving friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by many friends and extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Powell Valley Cemetery with Pastor John E. Seward Jr. officiating.
The family would like to extend a very special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Life Care Center of Gray for their loving care.

I would like to thank Carter-Trent Funeral,staff, of Kingsport, TN, for the care that you extended to my sister Jo Ellen Olinger, who passed away May 23, 2024. Also to a woman, by the name of Linda Lowe, who made the arrangements. I was Jo Ellen's youngest sister, plus there were three sisters between, Jo Ellen and I, one of these had also passed.
