KINGSPORT - John R. Bowman, age 75, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 10th, 2023. Born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia on November 24th, 1947, John lived in Kingsport the majority of his life. He was a loved husband, father, brother, and uncle. He never met a stranger and could often be seen sitting on his porch talking to or waving at the many people he knew.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Paskil Lester Bowman and Georgia Dixon Bowman; sisters, Cathy, Margaret, and Ella Rose; and brothers, Donald and Ronald.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn; his sons, Roger, Jeffrey and wife Karla, and Eric; sisters, Sue Cloud and husband Kenneth, Nancy Whitaker, and Brenda Walker and husband David; brother Carlyle; and many nieces and nephews, with a special mention of niece Teresa Hulse and husband Earl, and nephews Paul Bowman and Randy Bowman.
The family would also like to extend a thank you to Smoky Mountain Health & Hospice for their care.
