KINGSPORT - John Lacey Byrd, aged 75, of Kingsport, TN, peacefully departed from this world on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023. He was born in 1948 in Russell County, Virginia, to the loving embrace of his late parents, Grover and Emaline Byrd.
John was of the Baptist faith and an esteemed Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, dedicating part of his life to serving his country.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his dear brother, Charles "Charlie" Byrd; sister, Shirley J. Mowdy.
John's memory lives on through his cherished survivors, his sister, Ruth Caldwell and husband Bill (of Kingsport), Ellen Beeler and husband Johnny (of Florida); brother, Phil Byrd and wife Anita (of Florida); sister-in-law, Angel Byrd (of Kingsport); many members of his extended family and several friends.
John will be interred at the hallowed grounds of Mountain Home National Cemetery in honor of his military service. He requested that no service be held.
