John Parker Obituary

David Parker, 84, of Bluff City, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Bristol Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. David loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening and working with his hands. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts, studying primitive archaeology and reading. David was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Berlin Crisis, and was the former city planner and manager of Bristol.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gale and Rubye Parker.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Parker; children, John David Parker, Jr. (AmieLee), Suzanne Flower Parker, James Edward Parker (Kristi) and Melissa Parker Haas; grandchildren, James David Parker (Hannah), Noah Sutherland Parker, Natalie Carol McMurray, Aurora Parker-Holloway, Asha King (Michael), Hunter Parker (Heather), Bryan Hunley, Hayden Parker; great-grandchildren, Mavis McMurray and Noah Lane Parker; brother, Bill Parker (Norma); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 23, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Jonathan Feathers officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park, with Military Honors by The American Legion Posts 3/265.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas Memorial Library of Bluff City, 481 Cedar St., Bluff City, TN 37618.
