SURGOINSVILLE – Mr. John D. Winegar, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 23, 2023, with his family by his side.
John was born on August 27, 1927, in Rogersville, TN to his parents, Wilburn and Rosa Head Winegar. He loved the outdoors, mowing his yard, and when he was able the cemetery, and being with his family. John was of the Baptist faith and attended Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Rosa Winegar; granddaughter, Stella Gildrie; and his sons-in-law, Don Anderson, and Randall Coker.
He is survived by his children, Cleorus Winegar (Robin), Alberta Barrett (Charles), Faye Etta Anderson (Don), and Viola Coker (Randall); grandkids, Hank Winegar (Kim), Sherman Barrett (Glenda), John Barrett (Cookie), Sonia Russell (Rodney), Lora Starnes, Shelia Churchwell, and Bronson Coker; as well as 9 great-grandkids, and 12 great-great-grandkids.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at The John Winegar Cemetery on Caney Valley Loop. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Hank Winegar, Cody Churchwell, Charles Barrett, Junior Thompson, Sherman Barrett, and John Barrett.
