Johnny Paul Snodgrass October 30, 1945 - September 2, 2024
GATE CITY, VA - Johnny Paul Snodgrass, 78, Gate City, VA, passed away, Monday, September 2, 2024, at his residence.
Johnny was born in Scott County, VA, on October 30, 1945, to the late James Buford Snodgrass, and Una Josephine (Venable) Snodgrass.
He retired from Smith Mechanical. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
In addition to his parents, his long-time companion, Mildred Casteel; maternal grandparents, Herbert Paul, and Elizabeth (Boy) Venable; paternal grandparents, John, and Ava Snodgrass; brother, James Calvin Snodgrass; sisters-in-law, Emogene Snodgrass, and Helen Snodgrass; and nephew, James Mike Snodgrass preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Jack Edison Snodgrass; nieces, Jessica (Norman) Eichmann, Paula Snodgrass, and Jackie (Greg) Willis; great nieces, Brittany Eichmann, Nikisha Eichmann, Meagan Willis, Misty Perry (Keith), Mandy Snodgrass; great nephew, Blake Willis, and fiancé, Savanah Bowen; great-great nephew, Jayden Snodgrass; and his dog, Booboo.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Rick Begley officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Friday, September 6, 2024, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Services will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN, Post #265, Gate City, VA, National Guard Honors Team.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service. Norman Eichmann, Greg Willis, Blake Willis, Meagan Willis, Luke Guyer, and Ben Long will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors and nurses at the VA and give a special thanks to Norman and Jessica Eichmann for their love and care of Johnny.
