Joseph Ferraro Obituary

Joseph Ferraro

July 4, 2025

Joseph Ferraro, 82, passed away on July 4, 2025, in Titusville, Florida. Born on October 22, 1942, in Paterson, New Jersey, Joe lived a life marked by intellectual curiosity, public service, and deep devotion to his family.

A graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Chemistry, Joe later earned an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from East Tennessee State University. His academic pursuits reflected his lifelong passion for learning-an attribute that shaped not only his own journey but also left a lasting impression on those around him.

Joe dedicated 36 years of his professional life as a manufacturing chemist at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tennessee. His commitment to excellence extended beyond the plant; he also served his community with distinction as a four-term elected Constable for Sullivan County, Tennessee. In this role, he worked closely with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department, contributing to the safety and well-being of his neighbors through diligent patrol and steadfast service.

In addition to his scientific and civic endeavors, Joe was an entrepreneur with a creative spirit. He owned the Blountville Music Store and Newman Gallery-a frame shop that earned the prestigious Tennessee Quality Award. These ventures reflected both his love for music and his appreciation for craftsmanship and quality.

Joe's personal passions were as vibrant as his professional life. He found joy traveling across the country in his motorhome, exploring new places with a sense of adventure. At home, he was known for grilling on one of his three Big Green Eggs-a testament to both his culinary enthusiasm and attention to detail. Music held a special place in Joe's heart; he delighted in playing country and bluegrass tunes on his autoharp alongside friends, channeling the timeless style of the Carter Family.

Above all else, Joe cherished time spent with those he loved. He is survived by his devoted wife Deborah; children Joe (Cristy) Ferraro, Tom (Kathryn), and Victoria; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. His legacy also lives on through countless memories shared among family and friends who were touched by his wisdom, humor, and generosity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Elinor Ferraro, and by his brother Tom.

That Joe passed away on Independence Day feels especially poignant for a man who held such deep respect for his country and its history. His family finds comfort in knowing that this symbolic day now carries even greater meaning.

To honor Joe's memory, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital-a cause close to the hearts of many who knew him.

Joe Ferraro will be remembered not only for what he accomplished but for how he lived-with integrity, curiosity, warmth, and unwavering love for those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Yesterday

I have been privileged to have known Joe for over 55 years, both professionally and personally. Over the years we traveled together on our motorcycles and motorhome camping as well as our country music band, all for just pure fun. He mastered the culinary art of grilling and barbecue in a vast collection of equipment. Our mutual love of seafood, especially steamed Chesapeake blue crab resulted in many feasts. He was a true patriot and loved this country. My wife Cathy and I will surely miss him. Blessings
