Juanita Whitaker Obituary

BLOUNTVILLE - Juanita Marie Whitaker, 94, of Blountville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 9, 2025. She was born in the Boozy Creek Community to the late Roy and Maude Salyer. Juanita worked for the Sullivan County School system. She was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed dining out with her friends and family. Juanita was a member of Deck Valley Baptist Church. She was a devoted, wife, mother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Charles "Red" Whitaker; daughter, Clara Jane Rasar; brother, Warren Salyer.
Survivors include her sisters, Shirley and Cleo; brothers, Doyle and Larry; special son-in-law, Johnny Cross; special niece, Judy Wyatt and husband Steve; along with a host of friends and extended family.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 am on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50am.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy, Pinky, and Nona for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to charity of your choosing.

Juanita was always full of life! I loved seeing her at the Whitaker Christmas (reunion) and catching up every year. She was so outgoing, loving, positive and encouraging - a Spark has gone from us.

I attended elementary school where a dynamic duo worked together. I remember Ms. Juanita (and her lovely hair) always saying sweet things as we all heard what Fannie McClain had to say. Juanita was a great lady. She was a smiling face all children at Central Heights would see each day.

I started Central Heights Elementary in 1987 and one of my favorite parts was seeing Ms. Juanita's beautiful smile. She always took the time to make every child feel special. She was a beautiful woman and will be missed by many.
