Mrs. Judith "Judy" C. (Whiten) Brooks June 18, 2024
CHURCH HILL - Mrs. Judith "Judy" C. (Whiten) Brooks, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
Judy was born in Sullivan Co. and lived in Kingsport until 1996 when she married her late husband, Clyde Brooks. She attended Lynn Garden Evangelical Presbyterian Church for many years. She was very active in The Multiple Sclerosis Society and was one of the main contacts for the Kingsport area. She was a wonderful baker and could bake just about anything. She was best known for her amazing sour dough bread and Christmas candy that she loved to share with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John, and Nannie Belle (Larkey) Whiten; husband of 36 years, Clyde Brooks; brothers, Kenneth Wayne Whiten, and James B. "Jim" Whiten; and nephew, Stephen A. "Steve" Whiten.
Judy is survived by her nieces, Leah Ann Qualls (Jeff), Debbie Whiten (fiancé, Rick Jackson), and Shirley Whiten; nephews, Ed Whiten (Gwen), and Greg Whiten (Donna); her sister-in-law, Delores B. Whiten; many great-nieces, and great-nephews; as well as several close cousins, and dear friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Judy's many wonderful neighbors who helped her whenever she needed it, and to the nurses and staff at Signature Healthcare in Rogersville, and The Serenity House in Morristown for the love and care given to Judy.
Judy's wishes were to be cremated and have no formal services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Judy's name. https://www.nationalms society.org/resources/get-connected/in-your-area/tns

I send my sympathy to Judy's family. I remember her well, we worked together in the lab at Holston Valley Hospital years ago. I started working there in 1972. She was a good person and a hard worker in Hematology.

I knew Judy for many years. We were co-leaders of the local MS self-help group. When I was first diagnosed with MS Judy was a great stabilizer for my feelings. Judy was such a caring and loving person, she helped so many people and did so freely and with joy. I will miss my dear friend greatly. Peace to you, Judy Karen
