CHURCH HILL - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Judy went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully at her Church Hill, Tennessee, home following an extended illness on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
Judy was born on March 6, 1950, in Kingsport, Tennessee, to Willard and Ann Davenport. Judy was raised in a Christian household that fostered her faith, which she held close to her heart and shared with her family.
Judy loved her family deeply, and that devotion shone brightly in every facet of her life. Judy was a caretaker by nature, and she loved to take care of her family, extended family, and friends. Her husband and sons consider themselves blessed to have had the privilege to return a small amount of that care at the end of her life.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Ann Davenport; father- and mother-in-law, Thomas and Geneivieve Dorton; brothers, Ronnie Davenport, and Nick Davenport; brother-in-law, Tommy Dorton; and niece, Beth Davenport.
Judy is survived by her loving and devoted family: her husband of 48 years, Billy Dorton; sons, Harley Dorton (Christy), and Brandon Dorton (Wendi); stepchildren, Scott Dorton (Cathy), Jason Dorton (Deana); grandchildren, Maddie, Luke (Ally), Ben, and Eli; her three loving sisters, Cathy, Sandy, Peggy and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Judy will be missed terribly by all who love her.
The family will receive friends at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. With a funeral service following in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Mitch Russell officiating. A graveside service will follow the funeral service at Liberty Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Ballad Hospice and especially Candace and Shamrock. Thank you for taking great care of Judy.
