Judy Carol (Larkin) Messick

September 1, 1949 -

February 16, 2025

CHURCH HILL – Judy Carol (Larkin) Messick, 75, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 16, 2025, following a short illness surrounded by her loving family.

Judy was born on September 1, 1949, in Kingsport, TN to her parents, Paul and Mary Ruth (Lane) Larkin. She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins Co., and she was a member at First Baptist Church in Church Hill. She loved the casino, but her grandsons were her world, and she loved spending time with them and her family.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life and her soulmate, Carl Michael Messick.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Shayla Jones (Matthew), and Amy Ladd (Calvin); 3 beloved grandsons, Chase Ladd, Tanner Ladd, and Toby Jones; brothers, Jim Larkin (Leanne), Ben Larkin (Margaret), Bob Larkin, and Bill Larkin (Peggy); sister-in-law, Patricia Turner (Lynn); brother-in-law, Allen Messick; and her beloved dog Murphy; as well as an aunt and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Due to weather conditions the graveside service will be held in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

I am so, so sorry about the loss of your Mom and my dear friend. I had planned on attending the service today but live in Gray and was afraid of getting caught in bad weather. Judy and I have been friends since high school and periodically met for lunch when another member of our group came in from Charleston. Judy was such a wonderful person who always had a smile and never failed to lift my Spirits. She will be greatly missed, and our special group lunches will never be the same without her. She was a great and well-loved friend, and I know I'll see her again one day. She really loved her family and frequently talked about you all when we got together. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
