Kaye Shipley Obituary

Kaye Shipley

December 5, 1960 - December 12, 2024

After a long period of extended illness and a courageous battle against glioblastoma, Kaye Shipley (December 5, 1960-December 12, 2024) passed into the loving arms of Jesus on December 12, 2024. Kaye was a beloved wife, a loving mother, and a proud "Me Me" of four precious grandchildren. She was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir for several years before experiencing declining health, which prevented her from singing further. Kaye enjoyed cooking, crafting, gardening, fishing, and traveling, along with cheering on the Big Blue in basketball and the Big Orange in football.

Preceding her in death were her parents Peter Smith Gentry and Mary Jane Rose of Kentucky, as well as sister Janet Richland, also of Kentucky.

Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are husband Anthony (Joey); daughters Kristen McDaniel and Kaitlin McDaniel; grandchildren Rhianna Cradic, Connor Cradic, McKenna McDaniel, and Hunter McDaniel; in-laws Joe and Shirley Shipley; special brother Paul Ferguson (Wilma) of Somerset, Kentucky; sister Betty Walker (Tim) of Lady Lake, Florida; brother Rodger Ferguson of California, and sister Debbie Soper (Don) of Lexington, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews, including special nephew Michael Ferguson (Christy) of Chicago, Illinois, and special niece Teresa Nolan of Lexington, Kentucky.

Family members wish to thank the following for their unwavering love and support: Dr. Amanda Dove, Ballad Hospice, the staff at Greystone Health Care Center, the Fordtown Baptist Church Family, and the Twin Springs Family.

Kaye was a major proponent of organ and tissue donation, and her wishes were to be cremated. Final arrangements are being handled by Restore Life USA, 311 Cherokee Park Dr., Elizabethton, TN 37643.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Restore Life USA (423-631-0067).

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to middle school and high school with Kaye and remember her as a fun and great friend. I moved a way from Kentucky shortly after high school and lost touch with her through the years. I´m so glad that she had a wonderful family and church family to support her. Sincerely, Marcie Stitzel Haslam

I had so many great times and shared so many laughs with Kaye! In fact, she was with me the day I met my husband. Rest in peace, friend.
