Kenneth Gray Edwards April 21, 1940- June 1, 2024
MT. CARMEL - Kenneth Gray Edwards, 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2024. He was born in Dickenson Co, VA on April 21, 1940 to the late Cecil and Nannie Rasnick Edwards.
Kenneth was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Kenneth was a member of First Baptist Church of Gate City. He worked at Holston Defense for 10 years after serving our country in the U.S. Navy. Kenneth later retired from Akzo-Nobel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Farrel Eugene Edwards and Gerald C. Edwards.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Ann (Quillen) Edwards; sons, Shannon and husband Edward Lawler, Randy and wife Angela; grandchildren, Matt, Kayla and husband Matt Causura, Kristen and husband Brandon Geiger; great-grandchildren, Abby, Max, Maddie and Adelinde; brother, Gary Edwards and wife Doris; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Scott County Funeral Home. Services will follow with Jeff DeBoard and Pastor Luke Tolley officiating. Music will be provided by his grandson Matt.
Military graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 7, 2024 at Holston View Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 providing the honors. Family and friends may assemble at 10:15 am at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Edwards, Matt Edwards, Ryan Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Seth Edwards and Curtis Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Edwards and Bob Rasnick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by visiting their website www.stjude.org or to the American Legion Honor Guard, P.O. Box 66, Kingsport, TN 37662.
