KINGSPORT - Larry Lawson, born on April 15, 1951, in Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in his hometown of Kingsport. He was 74 years old.

A lifelong resident of Kingsport, Larry built a life rooted in family, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He shared many years of marriage with his beloved wife, Vickie Lawson. Together they raised a family that brought him immense pride and joy.

Larry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Vickie Lawson and sons Michael Lawson, David Bishop, and Matt Lawson; his daughter-in-law Savannah Lawson; and his cherished grandchildren Braiden Lawson, Brody Lawson, Bradlee Lawson, and Blake Lawson; sisters, Patsy Horton (Larry), Betty Salyers (Eddy). His legacy lives on through them and the many memories they created together.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 1st Calvary Division serving in Vietnam.

Larry had a passion for CB radios and spent countless hours connecting with others over the airwaves. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace in hunting and fishing-activities that reflected his love for nature and quiet reflection. A skilled woodworker, Larry took great satisfaction in creating with his hands, crafting pieces that were both functional and beautiful. His enthusiasm for classic cars was another defining interest; he enjoyed restoring vintage vehicles and sharing stories about their history and design.

Those who knew Larry will remember him as a man of steady presence and enduring passions. Whether working in his shop or casting a line into the water, he embraced life with quiet dedication.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire the values he held dear.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.

Larry will be laid to rest at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 11:00am.
