GATE CITY, VA - Leonard Henry Vaughn, 77, of Gate City went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 20, 2025. He was born in Duffield, VA to the late Bud and Ida Vaughn. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. Leonard also enjoyed antique cars especially El Caminos and Rancheros. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Vaughn; daughter, Bobbie Payne; stepchildren, Emory Mowell, Leona Bentley, Patricia Brooks, and Juanita Reed; brothers, Clarence, Claude, Errett, Jerry, and Pete Vaughn; sisters, Marie Robbins and Sue Burton.

Survivors include his sister, Debbie Egan and husband Jay; stepdaughter, Linda Bentley and husband Phillip; 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Terry Rhoton and Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. Music will be provided by the Hood family. The family will also receive friends at the home of Debbie Egan or at his home anytime.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Church Hill Memory Gardens with family serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Vaughn and Jay Egan. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Holston Valley Hospital for their loving care.
