Leslie Baker Obituary

GATE CITY, VA - Leslie Edward "Ed" Baker, 72, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at his home.

Ed was born in Wise County, VA on July 20, 1951, a son of the late Kyle and Minnie Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Baker and a half-brother, Glen Beverley. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for 32 years in coal mining and lastly worked for 6 years in the HVAC industry in Ohio. Ed was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, pop pop and friend and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Baker; daughter, Lisa Wyckoff (spouse Peter); son, Eddie Baker (spouse Wendy); stepson, Daniel Bishop (Brandy); stepdaughter, Kaycie Berry (Brandon); grandchildren, P.J. Wyckoff, Brooklin Baker, Dauntay Woods (wife Amanda), Braydon Berry, Branson Berry, Landon Berry, Draven Bishop, Kirkland Bishop, and Grayson Bishop; great-grandchildren, Killian Bishop and Kingston Woods; sister, Clora Jane Strong; brother, Glenn "Russ" Baker.

Military graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Historic Side, 53 Memorial Ave, Mountain Home, TN 37684. Honors will be provided by American Legion Hammond Post 3/265. Family and friends planning to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery at 12:50 pm. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
