Lillian Meade Sexton

KINGSPORT - Lillian Meade Sexton, age 90 of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Lillian was born on June 8, 1934, in Rogersville, TN to Charlie and Tennessee Simpson. In 1956 Lillian married her cherished friend, Fred Meade, and after 22 years of marriage he preceded her in death.

Lillian loved spending time with her family and she was a long time member of Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church. She sang with the Tru-Way Quartet for many years, performing throughout the region. Lillian enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, and she was the owner / operator of C and L Produce and Meade Produce in Kingsport.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Fred Meade; son, Billy Payne; and several brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Brenda Gillenwater and husband Larry, and Tessa McCarty and husband Kevin; three sons, Michael Payne and wife Sonja, Elmer Payne and wife Janie, and Edward Meade and wife Karen; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marshaleen Hooven, and Ilene Huffman and husband Bruce; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would to give a special "Thank You" to Ballad Health Hospice, and her caretaker, Kathleen Buckley.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Holston View Cemetery with Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. Lilian's family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 pm.
