June 25, 2025

BLOUNTVILLE - Louis Eugene Blackburn, 85, of Blountville TN went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at his residence. He was born on February 3, 1940, in Kingsport, TN. A son of the late Perry Blackburn and Peggy McCroskey Blackburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Brian Eugene Blackburn and Mark Howard Blackburn; and sisters, Barbara Henry and Marcella Stidham.

Louis was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. After graduating from Blountville High School in 1959, Louis joined the United States Army for three years where he spent 13 months on tour in Korea. He was a firefighter at Sullivan County Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, where he spent time serving as chief. Louis retired from Sprint after 40 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed hunting and riding motorcycles with his friends. He was an avid fan of western movies. He was a lifelong member of Blountville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Whiteside Lodge #13 for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his family.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Charlotte Blackburn; daughter, Sheila Jones; grandson, Lucas Fleming; granddaughter, Lacey Jones Waldron (Willie); great-granddaughters, Adleigh and Chloe Waldron; brother, Tony Blackburn (Sally); and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Blountville United Methodist Church (3390 TN-126 Blountville, TN 37617). A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 p.m. with Laura Plaster, Adam Sells and Emily Harding officiating.

Louis will be laid to rest on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. at East Tennessee Cemetery (2630 TN-75 Blountville, TN 37617). Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military rites will be provided by Chap 39 Honor Guard.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice.

Memorial contributions can be made to Sullivan County Volunteer Fire Department (1679 Blountville Blvd. Blountville, TN 37617).
