KINGSPORT - Louise Ruth Shelton, age 88 of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death on Monday, February 24, 2025. Louise was born on September 20, 1936, in Sullivan County, TN to Louis and Johnnie Ketron. Louise married her soulmate, Robert Joe Shelton Sr., and after raising a family and sharing a beautiful life together, he preceded her in death on April 29, 2023.
Louise loved sports, as she was a Vol's fan through and through. She cherished her grandchildren, and she found solace in reading and cooking.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of almost 68 years, Robert Joe Shelton Sr.; one son, Louis Shelton; one grandson, Jordan Shelton; and two brothers-in-law, Johnny Barnes, and J.D. Davis. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joe Shelton II and wife Jodi; daughter, Sharon Gragg and husband Mark; seven grandchildren, Valerie Miller and husband Mike, Cyndi Johnson, Faith Thomas and husband Matt, Joe Shelton III, Jennifer Ainsworth and husband Matt, Jessica Shelton, and Kelli Perdue and husband John; ten great grandchildren, Heath, Aiden, Abby, Jeremiah, Nolan, Ashton, Reagan, Wilder, Noa, and Waylon; two sisters, Ann Barnes, and Leta Davis; and many loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Paul Warrick officiating. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Mike Miller, Heath Miller, Aiden Miller, Jeremiah Jones, Matt Thomas, Mickey McBryar, Joe Shelton III, and Matt Ainsworth will be serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport is serving the Shelton family.

My family has had many precious memories with the Shelton family. There are several members that have gone on to reunite with their family and are now rejoicing with their Lord!! We love and miss them all. I know Louise is glad to be with Joe and the rest of their family. She will be missed but we are glad she is rejoicing with her Lord!!
