Lucille Sue Bowser went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 9, 2024, at 12:41 a.m.
She was employed at the Brickyard. She attended North Greene High School, graduating in 1974. She was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, where she served as the Church Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher.
Mrs. Bowser loved quilting, gardening, and helping people. She greatly enjoyed her yearly trips with her sisters to the beach. She also loved exploring her family genealogy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Ruth Penley; her father, Taylor Cleve Penley; a sister, Beatrice "Bea" Penley; and her brothers: Guy, Dorsey, Carson "Cos", and James "Jim" Penley.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rickie Bowser; two daughters: Pamela (Rodney) Wendling and Heather (Barry) Lawson; a son: Doug (Nikki Lucas) Bowser; granddaughters: Janay Lawson and Brittany (Jacob Adams) Wendling; a great grandson: Nathaniel Adams; a sister: Bonnie Guy; a brother: Clint (Martha) Penley; and a very special friend: Nellie Christian.
The family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church from 12:00-2:00 pm on Thursday. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at the church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Rex Miller, Rev. Bob Simpson, and Rev. Clifford Dalton will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jim Beck, Jacob Adams, Brent Penley, Sam Bowser, Berthil Bowser, Scott Bowser, Jonathon Beck, Adam Beck and Eric Bowser.
Honorary pallbearers are Vestil Bud Holland, Richard "Joe" Guy, Roger Britton, Darrin Shefery, Roger Shefery, Rodney Wendling, and Barry Lawson.
Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
