Lucille Skalicky Obituary

Lucille "Lucy" Skalicky, age 101, passed away on December 17, 2025, in Medford, MN. She was born on November 5, 1924.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, parents, Edward and Ella Schlobohm; her brothers Harold, Luverne, Delbert, and Herbert Schlobohm; and her sister Dorothy Schlobohm.
She is survived by her brother Wilfred (Sandy) Schlobohm; her sons Ron (Cindy) Skalicky and Dan (Jenny) Skalicky; and her grandchildren Shayna (Joel) Anderson, Andrew (Jess) Skalicky, Lauren (Ben) Sietsema, Steve Skalicky, and Danielle Skalicky. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Juliana, Joshua, Ava, Margo, Evie, and Oliver, as well as many beloved cousins.
Lucille was a devoted member of St. John's American Lutheran Church, where she faithfully volunteered in numerous church activities throughout her life.
Growing up as a farm girl in Medford, Lucille learned the value of hard work and independence at a young age-values she carried throughout her 101 years. Her strong work ethic was evident in her many jobs, including, at a young age, babysitting, then working as a cook at Owatonna High School, employment on the paint line at OTC, and later working as a housekeeper for the phone company, where she eventually retired.
Lucille's independence was nothing short of remarkable. She mowed her own lawn at age 100, snow-blew her driveway and sidewalks at 99, and even painted her garage at 100 years old-an inspiration to all who knew her.
Above all, Lucille was a loving and giving person who always put others before herself. She volunteered not only at church but also with the Chamber of Commerce and the Art Center. She generously gave rides to friends for doctor appointments and prepared meals for those who were homebound.
A wonderful cook, Lucille believed no meal was complete without at least two kinds of meat-and she especially loved Jello. Her kitchen, like her heart, was always full.
A celebration of Lucille's life will be held at a later date.
