MOUNT CARMEL - Lula M. (Flanigan) Johnson, 96, of Mount Carmel, TN was born on May 11, 1927, in Ben Hur, VA. God called her to peace in her Heavenly home on Friday, September 29, 2023.
Lula retired from the Hawkins Co. School System as a cafeteria worker. She was a hardworking, genuine, caring, loving, and witty soul. She was God loving, and strong willed. She loved to stay busy with housekeeping, shopping, playing with children, and swinging on the porch with her beloved neighbor, Joyce Hillman. Her love and laughter made her a favorite to all who knew her.
Lula is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Johnson; parents, Dan and Ada Flanigan; sisters, Mary Disney, Lillie Sexton, Helen Sprinkle, Minnie Stapleton, and Ruth Pennington; and her brothers, Coy, John "Jay", Herman, Don "Buster", and Carl Flanigan.
She is survived by her devoted son, E. Glen Johnson (Robin); grandsons, Joey Johnson (Sarah), and Jacob Simmons (Erin); great grandchildren, Kylo Johnson, Wyatt Simmons, and Dalton, and Tyler Skinner; brother, Kenneth Flanigan (Ramona); caring friends, Starla Dunn (Wayne), and Joyce Hillman, as well as many beloved and special nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 PM.
