GATE CITY, VA – Lynda C. Porter, 69, entered into rest on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Kingsport, TN on December 20, 1953, a daughter of the late Loren C. and Louise S. Collins. Lynda retired from Holston Medical Group in Weber City, VA.
Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Porter; daughter, Mellanie S. Horne; son, John B. Smith (Stacey); grandchildren, Josey Smith, Ashlyn Horne, Alyssa Jo Smith and Adrian Smith; great-grandchildren, Trinity Page and Avery Blake Smith; sister, Lorraine Buchanan (Bill); brother, Larry D. Collins (Sabie); several nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Visiting hours will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Friday, April 7, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home. Services will follow at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bill Porter officiating. Music will be provided by Patsy Mercer.
Interment will follow the service in Holston View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will Jayme Collins, Jeremy Collins, David Buchanan, Daniel Buchanan, Bill Buchanan and Roger Baker.
