Malcolm McKinley Jones, Jr. May 31, 2024
KINGSPORT - Dr. Malcolm McKinley Jones, Jr, 97, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024. He resided in Kingsport with his wife of 69 years, Marie Hewitt Jones, until her passing last August. Malcolm grew up in the Elizabethton area and was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Forces where he served from July 1945 to January 1947. He graduated from East Tennessee State College in Johnson City before receiving his medical degree at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He was a practicing physician in Kingsport for more than 30 years. He faithfully attended Waverly Road Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his parents, Malcolm McKinley (Mac) Jones, Sr. and Margaret Bowman Jones; and his brothers, John Clifton Jones of Hampton Roads, VA, and Harry Lambert Jones of Baileyton, TN.
Malcolm is survived by his children, Lisa Marie Jones of Grand Bay, AL, Malcolm Timothy Jones of Kingsport, and Alice Suzanne Jones (Jeff Zoller) of Jasper, TN; grandchildren, Maggie Jones, Ben Jones, Torin Dunn, Kiley Dunn, Jacob Zoller (Anna), and Thomas Zoller; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee or the USO.
