Margaret Lane Obituary

Margaret June Lane August 27, 1942- June 17, 2024

GATE CITY, VA - Margaret June Lane, 81 of Gate City, VA, went to her heavenly home on June 17, 2024.

Born on August 27, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Bascom and Alice McGee Lane. She was a loving, faithful wife, Mother, Nana, and friend. She had a great love of flowers and was always looking for unique and different plants and flowers to add to her collection. June was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Glenn Lane; sisters, Virginia Marshall and Marie Lane Jordan; brothers, Willard Lane and C.W. Lane; along with several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her three daughters, Sharon (Steve) Vermillion, Kim (George) Shelton, and Christy (David) Dunn; three grandchildren, Joshua (Laken) Vermillion, Tyler Shelton and fiancée Avery Love, Caitlyn Shelton; two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Ladd Vermillion; brothers, Garry Lane and Mack Lane; brother-in-law, Dennie Lane; sisters-in-law, Nancy Lane, Esther Lane, Ann Hass, Erma Lane; and several nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Freda Elliott.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the chapel with Pastor Wayne Baker and Pastor Tim Risner officiating. Music will be provided by Rejoicing Voices.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will meet at 10:30 at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Ballad Medical Center and Bristol Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care of our Mom and family during her illness.

Sharon, I will always cherish all the wonderful memories we shared together at copper creek church and the last couple years helping you and your precious momma. she was a very special lady whom I will miss very much but one day we will see her again in heaven.
