Margie Cox Obituary

GRAY - Margie Lynn Cox, 89, of Gray, TN, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023. She was born on February 15, 1937, in Kingsport, TN to Frank and Hazel Cross. She graduated from Boones Creek High School and Steed College. She worked for the Lexington County Sheriff's Department and Carolina Eastman while living in Columbia, SC.

Margie enjoyed loving on her grandkids, gardening, cooking and taking care of her family and friends. She loved her family and was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hazel Cross and one sister, Shirley Cox, and brother-in-law Billy Cox. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Don Cox; two children, Gordon Cox (Linda) of Jonesborough, TN, Debbie Smith (Eugene) of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Charlene Cox (Eddie) and Carolyn Cox of Batesville, AR; and one brother, Ivan Cross (Kay) of Gray, TN.

Pallbearers were Eugene Smith, David Cross, Ben Cross, Chad Cox and Logan Cross.

A private family service was held on Friday, July 28, 2023, in the Garden of Devotion at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2630 Highway 75, Blountville, Tennessee.

Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park is honored to serve the family of Margie Lynn Cox.
