KINGSPORT - Marnita "Nita" Wallen, 62, of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2026. Born in 1963, Nita was a proud graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She spent many years working at the Hawkins County Press before opening her own beauty salon, where she cared for her clients not only with her skill, but with her generous and kind spirit. Nita was known for her warmth, her compassion, and her ability to make anyone feel welcome.
She was a faithful member of Bible Way Baptist Church, where she especially loved working with the youth. Children held a special place in her heart, and she was lovingly known as "an aunt to all." Nita enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins and was also a fan of NASCAR driver Bill Elliot.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carlos and Mildred Wallen, and her two Yorkies, Sam and Lucy.
Survivors include her sister, Melinda Hartman; niece, Maggie Tipton; nephew, Adam Tipton; great-niece Aubrie Tipton; aunt and uncle, Wanda and Charlie Burks; cousin, Sabrina Burks; and other extended family members.
The family extends special thanks to Pastor Rick Vannoy and his wife, Miss Eve, for their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bible Way Baptist Church Youth, 570 Packing House Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
