Martha Frances Bolt Davis

KINGSPORT - Martha Frances Bolt Davis, 77, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on July 2, 2025. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband Ron Davis for over 55 years and a cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, co-worker and friend to many whose lives she touched. Martha was born in Charlotte, NC on Dec. 4, 1947.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Kingsport for 36 years, where she served as a first-grade Sunday School teacher for 20 years. Guided by her deep faith, she dedicated herself to helping children in difficult circumstances. She was an elementary guidance counselor for Hawkins County (TN) Schools for 16 years. Prior to that, she taught elementary school in Virginia and North Carolina. Martha graduated from Furman University, with a degree in Education. She then obtained postgraduate degrees from East Carolina University and East Tennessee State University.

Martha loved dancing and beach walks with Ron, music, reading and baking. She had a gift for listening with her whole heart and comforting and encouraging others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rachael Winecoff Bolt and Ernest Collier Bolt, Sr., brothers Ernest Bolt, Jr. (Mary Frances), and William Michael Bolt.

Martha is survived by her husband, Ronald Lee Davis, her daughters Rhonda Bowman (Brent) of Bristol, TN and their children Noah Bishop and Brady and Cooper Bowman; and Stephanie Davis Brawner and her son Nathan of Atlanta, GA

The memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 27 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Kingsport, followed by the receiving of friends.
