KINGSPORT - Martha Horton Stamper, 95, of Kingsport, TN passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

Martha, also know as "Granny Re", was born August 14, 1929, in Hancock County, TN to the late Freeman H. Horton and Sarah Fields Horton.

She was a long-time member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

Martha enjoyed her daily newspaper crossword, feeding everyone that came through her front door, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charley "Jim" Stamper; brothers, Nick Horton, Jim Horton, and John Horton; and her sisters, Blanche Horton and Empcie Collins.

Those left to cherish Martha's memory are her brother, Ray Horton; sister, Daisy Burnham; sons, Dennis Stamper, Doug and Terry Stamper; Carol Murray and Lisa Newman; grandchildren, Lori and Mike Baggett, Devin Stamper, Misty Venett and Matt Dollar, and Lane Newman; great-grandchildren, Nick and Thomas Dean, Josh and Sirena Puckett, Kayla Stonemetz, Hannah Puckett and Ryan Herron; great-great-grandchildren , Kileigh and Hadley Dunavent, Natalie and Avery Puckett, and Avery Newman; special nephew, Jimmy Horton; and many more loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Chaplain Steve Wilfert officiating.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Meditation. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:15 pm.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
