KINGSPORT - Mary Barrett Arnold, 85, of Kingsport, was called home Sunday evening, January 21, 2024, following an extended period of poor health. Mary was born in Kingsport and was a graduate of Sullivan High School Class of 1957. She was an employee of Sullivan County Schools and retired in 1998. Mary was of the Apostolic Faith.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Brent Arnold; sister, Marie Barrett Goad; brother, R.C. Barrett; and parents, Ray and Cecile Barrett.
Mary is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joe Arnold; sons, Anthony Arnold and wife Teresa, and Daniel Arnold and wife Carla; one granddaughter; six great-grandchildren; two brothers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks to the great care and services given by hospice.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Greg Street and Bishop Hagan Webb officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Bowser Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Hill, Cooper Arnold, Josh Smith, Willie Makenzie, Payton Dingus, and Fred Arnold, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Williams and Larry Rogers.
