HILTONS, VA – Mavis Carol McMurray Hatton, age 77, departed this life on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Mavis was born in Scott County, VA to the late Virgil and Gladys McMurray of Hiltons, VA on October 22, 1946. Mavis was a former employee of Indian Path Medical Center and Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice.
In addition to her parents, Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hatton and her brother Frank McMurray.
Her survivors include her daughters, Diane Sloan and husband Kelly Musick, Lynn Ritchie and Matt, Teresa Van Etteger and Randy; sisters, JoAnn Vicars and husband Fred, Patsy Larkey and husband Jerry; sister-in-law, Sheila McMurray; grandchildren, Mandie (Cory) Linkous, Kayla (Patrick) Looney, Joe Ritchie, Seth Tabor and Caleb Tabor; great-grandchildren, Mia, Jaxon, Sophia, Ridge, Railey and Paisyn; nieces and nephews, Lori Skinner and husband Michael, Mike Vicars and wife Amy, Jason McMurray; great-nieces and nephews, Katelyn Meade and husband Matthew, Walker Sauls and wife Belle, Laken Vicars; great-great niece, Lainey Jo Meade; special cousin, Todd Keith; special furbaby, her Boston Terrier Meme.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 pm Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at McMurray Cemetery, New Hurland Church Lane, Hiltons, VA with Pastor Ronald Horne officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mike Vicars, Walker Sauls, Kelly Musick, Michael Skinner, Chris Carter, Joe Ritchie, Matthew Meade, Matt Minnick, Seth Tabor and Caleb Tabor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason McMurray and Andy Caldwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the McMurray Cemetery fund in care of Peggy Hughes, 699 Boozy Creek Rd, Blountville, TN 37617.
