Mildred Ann Thacker May 23, 1950- April 5, 2024
Mildred Ann Thacker, 73, passed from death unto life on Friday, April 5, 2024, after a courageous battle of Alzheimer's Disease.
Born on May 23, 1950, she graduated from Powell Valley High School in 1968 and married Terry Thacker in 1971. She enjoyed being around babies and children during her whole life span. She was involved in teaching children's Sunday School and youth groups at Liberty Baptist, Kingsport Baptist Temple, and Homeland Baptist. Because she loved children so much, she was touched by a young baby at Homeland Baptist that she always referred to him as her first grandchild, whom she loved the rest of her life on earth.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Nellie Herndon; daughter, Melissa Mabe; siblings, Roxie Jervis, Sheila Robinette, Paulette Woosley, Shirley Day, Walter (Buddy) Woosley, Jr., and Betty Newsome.
Surviving are her husband, Terry Thacker; son, Clinton Thacker (Rebekah) Kingsport Tn; son-in-law, Michael Mabe, Thomasville, NC; 4 grandchildren, Mechala and Matthew Mabe of Thomasville, NC., and Kaitlyn and Andrew Thacker of Kingsport, TN.; her honorary 1st grandchild Joe Kanipe; sister, Frances Farris (Larry) of Greenville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 6pm with Pastor Michael Mabe officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.
