Nancy Jane Akard-Christian March 25, 1939 - August 24, 2024
CHURCH HILL - Nancy Jane Akard-Christian age 85, of Church Hill, TN passed away on Saturday August 24, 2024 with her loving family by her side.
Nancy was born on March 25, 1939, in Baltimore Maryland to James David Akard and Lucy Edith Reynolds - Akard. Her family moved back to Tennessee in October of 1954. She then went on to graduate from Blountville High School in 1957 and was employed in Bristol by Raytheon Company from 1957 - 1966.
On February 5, 1966, Nancy married William "Bill" Christian and together had two sons, Craig and Eric.
Nancy was most proud of her genealogy research of the Christian Family and publishing her findings in two books titled "Christian Cousins". Nancy and her husband Bill were also avid campers their entire marriage of 56 years and were lifelong members of the Eastman Camping Club. During the pandemic Nancy in her spare time put together a book for her camping family and friends called "Eastman Campground".
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Christian, and their son Craig Allan Christian.
Nancy is survived by her loving son, Eric Christian and wife, Lisa; granddaughter, Amber Edwards; brother, Wayne F. Akard; several nephews and nieces, Mike, Kevin, Keith, Lucy and Alison; special family members, Mark and Dianne Gollehon, along with Michael Stump and Denise Stump; lifelong friend, Peggy Hershberger and all her buddies at McCoy's Salvage.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor James Adams officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
