KINGSPORT - Olin Mack Pendleton, 86, Kingsport, TN passed away, Saturday, November 25, 2023, at NHC, Kingsport.
Born in Scott County, VA, on January 3, 1937, Olin was the son of the late Issac Arlo and Norma (France) Pendleton.
He was a 1954 graduate of Shoemaker High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era, and retired as a Master Sergeant with 20 years of service, and later was a member of the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN. He retired from Meade Corporation/Domtar after 20 years of service.
Olin loved his family and was always willing to lend a hand to both family and friends.
He was a member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church, and he served on the Appalachian Federal Credit Union Board of Directors from 1997 – 2013.
In addition to his parents, his first wife of 40 years, Maxine (Ash) Pendleton; second wife of 17 years, Eula (Hammonds) Pendleton; sisters, Evelyn Adams, Mildred Templeton, Elizabeth Bellamy, Bernice Solomon, Bennie Bishop, and Margaret Sneed; and brothers, Jim Pendleton, Curt Pendleton, and Eugene Pendleton preceded him in death.
Olin is survived by his sons, Thomas (Bonny) Pendleton, Corryton, TN, Paul (Evelyn) Pendleton, Bluff City, TN, and Mark (Susan) Pendleton, Knoxville, TN, his stepdaughter, Rebecca (Ron) Banton, Jonesborough, TN, sister, Claudia Byrd, Kingsport, TN, brother, Rayford (Martha) Pendleton, Huntsville, AL, grandchildren, Matthew (Andrea) Pendleton, Blountville, TN, Joshua (Katie) Pendleton, Bristol, TN, Ashley (Colby) Rhea, Kingsport, TN, Megan-Renee' Pendleton, Blacksburg, VA, Avery (Zeke) Clark, Orlando, FL, Sloan Banton, Greenville, SC, Marlo (Jonathan) Ward, Macon, GA, Seth Carden, Scottsdale, AZ, Maggie Carden, Murfreesboro, TN, Jamie (Mike) Owens, Rocklin, CA, Emily (Daniel) Haire, Knoxville, TN, and Ben (Tiffany) Bradley, Augusta, GA, great-grandchildren, Henry, Hunter, and Emersyn Pendleton, Noah and Oliver Rhea, Vivian, Tatum, and Gentry Clark; along with many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Rick Meade and Pastor Steve Templeton officiating.
Military Graveside services will be conducted by members of the United States Air Force Funeral Honors Team at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
