Oran Lee "Bird" Blackburn, Jr. July 26, 2024
HILTONS, VA - Oran Lee "Bird" Blackburn, Jr., 94, went to be with the Lord he loved on Friday, July 26, 2024 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Holston View Cemetery with Pastor Will Shewey and Pastor Randy Mutter officiating. Special music will be provided by Oscar Harris. Everyone is welcome to gather at 12:15 pm at the cemetery for the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hiltons Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 10, Hiltons, VA 24258.

Mr. Blackburn was my neighbor for many years and a wonderful friend to my mom and dad and to us Neeley girls. We all loved him and Mrs. Blackburn. He would bring my mom milkshakes from Pals during her last years in her home on Cypress Street and she would make him pies. So many fond memories of a sweet man and wonderful times! My deepest condolences.

Mr. Blackburn was a very respected and dedicated teacher. I was very fortunate to have been a student in some of his classes. We need more teachers with his dedication to our educational system. My prayers for comfort and peace for his family.
